Satellite Accounts Seminar

This seminar was held by videoconference, from May 13 to 15, 2023, and was co-sponsored by the Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas y Geografía (INEGI) of Mexico. The objective was to publicize in detail the developments of the satellite accounts that are being carried out in the countries of the region, as well as the diversity of methodological aspects and information requirements that implies their preparation.

The seminar was attended by more than 130 participants from 19 countries –coming from Spanish, English and Portuguese languages. In addition to the exhibitors from INEGI of Mexico, presentations by United Nations experts were shown, as well as investigations from Spain, Costa Rica, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil and Nicaragua, strengthening the exchange of ideas and experiences among the participants.

The seminar agenda began by highlighting the importance of Satellite Accounts into the National Accounts Systems. Subsequently, various panels addressed specific issues such as the Environmental and Economic Accounting System; Environmental Accounts; Measurement of Informality; Satellite Account of Culture; Education Satellite Account; Health Satellite Account; Tourism Satellite Account; Satellite Account of Information and Communication Technologies; ending with Unpaid Household Work.
