CXVII Meeting of Governors of Central Banks Members of Center for Latin American Monetary Studies

On October 22, 2024, the CXVII Meeting of CEMLA Member Central Bank Governors was held at the headquarters of the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C., featuring distinguished speakers. The session was opened with welcoming remarks by José Luis Escrivá Belmonte, Governor of the Bank of Spain and President of the Board of Governors of CEMLA, together with Manuel Ramos Francia, CEMLA's General Director.
During the first session, Rodrigo Valdés, the Director of the IMF's Western Hemisphere Department, provided an analysis of the economic and financial outlook for the Americas, with a special focus on inflation. The second session, moderated by José Luis Escrivá, was followed by presentations from several governors: Adriana Kugler, Federal Reserve Board; José Luis Escrivá, Banco de España; Victoria Rodríguez Ceja, Banco de México; Leonardo Villar Gómez, Banco de la República de Colombia; Paulo Picchetti, Deputy Governor for International Affairs and Corporate Risk Management, Banco Central do Brasil; Douglas Pablo Rodríguez, Banco Central de Reserva de El Salvador; and John A. Rolle, Central Bank of the Bahamas. The participants shared their views on inflationary challenges and the financial outlook in their respective countries, creating an opportunity for constructive dialogue among the governors.
To conclude the event, a dinner was hosted in honor of the governors and officials of CEMLA member institutions, reinforcing the commitment to collaboration among the participating institutions.
