This workshop aims to provide participants with training on the methodology for compiling statistics on remittances and the employment of migrants, primarily from Central American and Caribbean countries, in the United States. The workshop consists of a series of presentations, debates and practical exercises. The presentations are based on the IMF publication International Remittance Transactions: A Guide for Compilers and Users. Exercises will be carried out with the databases of the Current Population Survey of the Census Bureau of the United States to obtain information on the employment characteristics of Central American and Caribbean migrants in the United States.

Objective

Participants will be able to compile information on remittances following the main IMF guidelines and process information from the main labor surveys in the United States to learn about the employment characteristics of Central American and Caribbean immigrants in the United States.
