The Center for Latin American Monetary Studies (CEMLA), Banco de México, Banco Central de Chile, Banco de España and Banco Central de Costa Rica, jointly held the VII Meeting of Heads of Financial Risk Management at Central Banks on June 2–3, 2026, in Mexico City. The meeting brought together 46 representatives from 24 institutions, including CEMLA members and other organizations. While the event was held in person, selected sessions were also made available virtually to facilitate broader participation.
The meeting focused on developments in financial risk management at central banks, including reserve management, geopolitical risks, stress testing, artificial intelligence applications, benchmark portfolio design, liquidity facilities, and emerging challenges facing central bank risk management functions. Participants reviewed international experiences and exchanged views on methodologies, institutional frameworks, and practices aimed at strengthening risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation processes.
The agenda also included keynote presentations by Daniela Klingebiel, Investment and Governance Expert, and Marco Ruiz, World Bank Group, who shared perspectives on geopolitical risks, reserve management, and recent developments in reserve management practices.
