XVI Meeting of Heads of Financial Stability

Nicola Cetorelli is Head of Financial Intermediation at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. His research has focused on financial intermediation, both banking and nonbanking. Over the years he has represented the New York Fed on many Financial Stability Board's workstreams, contributing to the formulation of the principles for effective monitoring of nonbank financial intermediation activities, and to the compilation of related regulatory guidelines. He has published extensively in scholarly journals, among which The Journal of Finance, Journal of Economic Theory, American Economic Review, Journal of International Economics. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from Brown University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from La Sapienza University in Rome, Italy.

Robin Lumsdaine holds the Crown Prince of Bahrain Chair in International Finance at American University's Kogod School of Business, and is a member of the Advisory Scientific Committee of the European Systemic Risk Board, a Senior Fellow of the Center for Financial Stability, and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. She was previously an Associate Director in the Division of Banking Supervision and Regulation and Head of the Quantitative Risk Management Group at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. Before joining the Board, Professor Lumsdaine was a Director in the Global Markets Research division of Deutsche Bank where she served as the Global Inflation-Linked Bond Strategist. She has also held positions as Professor of Economics at Brown University, Senior Economist at the President's Council of Economic Advisers, and Assistant Professor at Princeton University. She received her PhD in economics from Harvard University.

Athanasios Vamvakidis serves as Deputy Director in the Monetary and Capital Markets Department at the International Monetary Fund, overseeing Capital Markets, Financial Sector Stability, Payment Systems and Digital Money, and leading the Global Financial Stability Report. He is also a member of the Investment Committee of the IMF Pension Fund. He originally joined the IMF in 1997, spending 13 years in various roles across the Strategy and Policy Review, European, Asian and Pacific, and Research departments, and also acting as the IMF Resident Representative in Croatia. After his initial tenure at the IMF, he became Managing Director and Global Head of G10 Foreign Exchange Strategy at Bank of America, where he earned the top ranking for FX strategy in the Institutional Investor Survey for both the US and Europe. Vamvakidis holds a Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University. His research spans a wide range of topics in international economics and finance, with numerous publications in leading academic journals. His work has been referenced in the international financial press including The Economist, Financial Times and Wall Street Journal, and he has been a regular guest at CNN, BBC, CNBC and Bloomberg.
